kall8 Review
- #3 Choice for the Simplest Plan
- #2 Choice for the Best Plan for Personal Use
I've been looking at kall8 for a long time, but I haven't completed the review until now. Part of the delay was that kall8 doesn't fit into the typical model for a virtual pbx system and every time I went to do the review it was like comparing apples and oranges. My biggest challenge was creating a review for kall8 that provided useful information for a group of users that I think will be interested in their service.
While kall8 offers many features you would expect in a virtual pbx company, you'll have to pay extra for many of those features that come standard with other companies such as RingCentral and VirtualPBX. However, if you're looking for a simple virtual pbx plan kall8 might be the plan for you!
kall8 Pricing
With kall8 you select the type of phone number you want. Your monthly fee includes a few features like voicemail, inbound faxing, call forwarding.
Here is the pricing:
| Number Type | Setup | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 888, 877, 866 | $2 |
$2 |
| 800 | $5 |
$5 |
| Repeater | $5 |
$5 |
| Vanity | $15+ |
$15+ |
| Premium | $25+ |
$25+ |
| National Database Search | $10 |
$10 |
Prices with a + sign indicate that some numbers cost more than the price listed.
| Number Type | Setup | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Local Numbers | $5 | $5 |
| Number Type | Setup | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Toll Free - International | $50 | $28 |
| Local - International | $50 | $28 |
None of the fees include calling minutes, those are all extra and they will typically cost 6.9¢ per minute. International fees are usually higher.
While kall8 only charges for one leg of the phone calls, I'm very dissapointed to see that they charge setup fees on EVERYTING! They even charge setup fees for each advanced feature you add to your account.
Looking for more features?
If you're interested in more features, especially virtual pbx standard features, then I do NOT recommend kall8. Anyone in the market for more robust features should look at RingCentral, GotVMail or VirtualPBX. Adding more advanced features to your kall8 plan is going to cost you a lot of money and to be honest, you can get those features included with your plan with the other virtual pbx companies. kall8 allows for a virtual pbx system; however, there is a setup fee of $50 and a monthly fee of $25 - ouch!
