I've got good news for you! You can now have a totaly free hosted virtual pbx system with Google Voice! While Google Voice does not offer a toll-free number option, you may find that a local number will work fine for you!

While Google Voice does not offer a toll-free number option, I couldn't resist reviewing this powerful personal virtual pbx option. The ability to use Google Voice is by invite only and I urge you to read the review AND learn how to receive an invite to this fantastic service. This is the only TOTALLY FREE virtual pbx option I have found so far.

Toll-Free Options

While there aren't any toll-free companies that provide virtual pbx for free forever, several of them do offer free trial periods of up to a month. This is a great option for someone looking to try out the services and options before committing to a virtual pbx company.

While many of the toll-free companies offer the deal right on their website when you sign up, there is one (RingCentral) that you will need to use a promotion to get an extended free trial period.

Get ready for the Grand-Daddy of them all - VirtualPBX.com! Believed to be the first of the hosted PBX companies, VirtualPBX knows how to to do Virtual PBX right - they even have the trademark on the phrase "Virtual PBX".

In a word, they are RELIABLE. So reliable that companies contract with them for a seamless backup option for when their on-site PBX system fails. It begs the question why you wouldn't go with them in the first place and forego the expense of a true PBX system.

TelCan.net

TelCan.net offers several different products, many of which we won't be discussing. From their main webpage it can be confusing to figure out exactly what they do offer. For our purposes they offer both toll-free plans and virtual PBX systems. They've broken them out separately; however they appear to be interchangeable and/or combined to make one package.

This is a bare-bones system, offering the basic services. If you're simply looking for a toll-free forwarding service then TelCan.net might be for you.

Phone People used to be TollFreeLive.com. They have updated their branding, but nothing else has changed.

Phone People plans are confusing, sign-up is more difficult than it should be, features are limited and they double bill your minutes. Go with RingCentral, GotVMail or VirtualPBX.

While they have comparable features to the competition, their rates are some of the highest around. I was also disappointed in how they worded their "one low price" making is sound like their fees were all inclusive. Make sure you read the details on this one before signing up for service.
