Updated 800PBX review - 12-31-2007
I have cancelled my account with 800pbx. After reviewing the product I wasn't as pleased with the service as I initially was. While 800pbx has some nice features, their website control panel wasn't the easiest to use. I also found that on at least 5 occasions over a 2 month period I would receive phone calls through their service that should have gone to voicemail. More interesting is that the calls were all random recordings that appeared to be clips of TV shows - Strange, I Know!
I'm leaving my initial review below as it explains their features, but I'm recommending that you look at either RingCentral or GotVMail as better choices.

“After spending a week trying to sign up and talk to someone who knew what they were doing we just gave up. I had carefully spelled out in an email everything we were interested in but all I got back was a note saying a knowledgeable sales rep would call, but the 2 people I spoke with were _far_ from knowledgeable. A frustrating experience to say the least. Stay away from them - they're rookies.”

Please note, I DO NOT recommend 800PBX. I've provided my original review for you to read; however, I highly recommend that you read the amended review below.
800PBX might be the perfect plan for you especially if you're looking for a lot of features AND someone to help you set everything up. Their rates are great and if they focus on quality service they can be a contender for a leader in the virtual pbx arena. So... Let's take a look at what they have to offer.
800PBX Features
Typically there are only a few special features that I need to tell you about for the virtual PBX companies; however, that's not the case with 800PBX. Let's start with the fact that their program is 100% Managed.
- 100% Managed - For very busy people and for those who can be technically challenged 800PBX may be the plan for you. 800OPBX now offers to take care of the setup for you - just tell them what you need and they will take care of the rest, including the recording of your messages! Great Feature.
- When I created my plan, they called me within a couple hours to assist me with the setup. While I didn't need the help, I was very pleased to see they were being proactive.
- Free Local Number - While this feature isn't new, it is great that they are providing it for free AND that the minutes used are not separate from your main account. You can also select to have your local number be your fax number.
- Call Recording - Not many toll-free virtual PBX providers have this feature, but, for some people it's a HUGE option. If you would like to record your conversations, this is the plan for you. This great for customer service training, recording of presentations for later use, legal documentation, etc.
- Call Blast - Unlike group voice messaging, Call Blast will actually call the numbers you designate and play your pre-recorded message. Calls are made one after the other and they do count against your available minutes. Please note, there is an extra fee for this feature
- Call Polling - Similar to Call Blast, but this feature will actually play a pre-recorded message and then gather the listener's response to questions. Please note, there is an extra fee for this feature
- Virtual and Hosted Call Center - Have a large operation and need call center capability? 800PBX can help, but this is a special feature and does cost extra. Please note, there is an extra fee for this feature
- Toll-Free Appointment Services - This is a great feature for anyone/any business that takes appointments or reservations. It allows callers to schedule an appointment without the need of having an actual person take the call. Please note, there is an extra fee for this feature

Good Things To Know about 800pbx
I have spoken with the 800PBX Telecommunications manager and they are very interested in providing a quality product. They are constantly working on new features and I believe anyone joining their service will see that the product will grow. For those people looking for a network that will work oversees, you may want to consider 800PBX. They are headquartered in India and have offices in the US and most recently Australia. While the majority of their clients are from the US, they do strive to have quality connections oversees.
Please be aware that they currently charge a $24.99 setup fee. There are very few virtual pbx phone companies that charge a setup fee.
